I screenshotted and paused an "extreme" level game (one where there was a high percentage of squares pre-filled) and ran through an online solver on the desktop so I had the solution right in front of me.

Now with the solution right in front of me I could barely fill out all the vacant squares fast enough to break the one and half minute mark (1:29) and yet there were about eight scores below the two minute mark (fastest was 1:06). Now given there are several players consistently/repeatedly scoring extremely low times that are defying what most could even blindly type in (ie, not even allowing any time for mental calculations)... we all have those greased lightening moments but almost daily?? The likelihood that a bunch of savants are consistently pegging the boards is statistically so low as to be damned near impossible.

well, I don't cheat, and I can finish Extreme somewhere around 1:30-40 pretty much at least once a day.. best times under 1:20..
I can't imagine to do it in 0:30 as some times are..

Maybe some people are cheating, but honestly I think most people accusing others of cheating just have a hard time accepting that someone else is that good. But some people are that good. I don't have any mind-blowing records, but I just started doing extreme puzzles after feeling like I had pretty much mastered the hard level. Within a few weeks, I've gone from 6-8 minutes per puzzle to 3-4, with a record of 2:15 (just hit it today, with a previous record of 2:30). I don't see myself as a remarkable person, so someone who is really smart and adept at Sudoku could reasonably get <1 minute records after some time. It's a matter of figuring out the puzzle pattern and improving your mental flexibility to see the patterns faster and faster every game.

There is cheating going on. Just look at the extreme times. There's someone that finished theirs in 16 seconds. Unless they are the flash that's physically impossible.

People cheat, one way or another. Either they are bored with something or find the idea exciting.

Personal best times:
Easy 0:38
Medium 0:56
Hard 1:25
Extreme 1:39

Because it happens in all games, without exception. If someone plays better than you, then he uses cheats, and if worse, it means noob.

You know, since there's no prizes given for the competitions and nothing earned other than bragging rights by playing *any* board this game offers, why does it even MATTER if someone 'cheats'?? Who *cares*?

My opion on the problem of cheating is clock never stops! Just like a real competition. You run a race, no stopping to rest in the middle. And it not count.

In my opinon, it's ignorance. My top times are:
easy 38s
medium 55s
hard (1:22) 82s
extreme (1:40) 100s

All these times except medium came within the last month. Not to mention my next top 6 times in medium (from 61-68s) also happened in the last month. These pbs when compared to the usual daily pbs would rank around 10-15 for the app. As of now, easy-hard would be top 8 and extreme would be ranked 16. I see some of the names above me constantly. Names such as Chiraag, phrisbee, AaronL. I doubt they cheat. They just play several hours daily.

It all comes down to set up and strategy. If you do digit first entry (which is where you tap the number first and then every square you tap fills as that number), and solve numbers one at a time, I'm positive you can comfortably get under a minute once you get in the zone. Another strategy that I've recently used (which I believe I pbed in hard and extreme) is to hide the clock. my easy pb could've been 5 seconds better if I hadn't seen the clock and choked when I realized how fast it was.

I've had this app for over 12 years. Playing on and off, mostly off. There have been chunks where I played a few hours per day and got significantly better. Even now, I mostly play on days that I have to travel or have free time.
