The staff report also says the partners in the Kingsway Entertainment District want to ensure they each hold up their end of the development and are able to complete their respective facilities around the same time. OLG’s Municipality Contribution Agreement (MCA) payments are made under an equitable formula in the MCA which determines the funds municipalities receive for hosting an OLG casino gaming facility. Payments are based on an escalating scale of gaming revenue consistent across all sites in Ontario. This step occurred after their efforts to develop on The Kingsway appeared dead in July 2022. At the time, city council members pulled funding from a municipal arena/event centre project at the site, which signalled the Kingsway Entertainment District???s demise.
