Sometimes I've used the strategy to assume a choice but remember where I made the choice. Carefully choose this choice. Usually where there are 3 in a row or block. Then play as usual until you either solve or get a conflict. If you get a conflict then you guessed wrong. Back up and use the other choice because obviously that is the correct one.
